SimCity BuildIt is a city building simulation game from publisher Electronic Arts. Become a mayor and create the city of your dreams and keep your residents happy.Grow your city to unimaginable lengths and become the ultimate Mayor of the ultimate city.
As a designer on the project, my responsibilities included creating and configuring existing plus new live events in game, that act as a major loop in gathering resources used to expand your city. In these limited time events, players engage with objective based challenges which will reward them with points required to progress on these events. Designs included event progression, balancing, buildings & rewards and even narrative.
I have been the Design PO for a new feature called Classics, where old, limited time and exclusive content that isn't acquirable in the game currently is re-surfaced in a much more gameplay focused manner.
These events come at low dev cost with higher returns in terms of player engagement and revenue.
I was also responsible for creating and implementing Battle Passes (called Mayor's Pass) for the game which included researching various themes and countries round the world which we would base the season of. This includes finding lucrative building designs or even coming up with fictional building architecture. Collaborating with various disciplines to make sure the building comes out as intended.
My other responsibilities included working closely with Producers and PMs for roadmap planning and constantly finding ways to improve the process and workflows for various tasks in order to make the studio structure more efficient. This granted designers some much needed time to turn to other avenues of the game and create new features.
